These are exceptionally good (nearly- instrumental) vignettes played with so much finesse and grace. Pieces to carry you far and wide to wonderful places that live on the borderlands of typical Bluegrass tunes, but are all the better for it. The first track is absolutely perfect accompaniment for any late afternoon or evening Autumnal stroll or window staring musings. Fans of early Grisman or early Tony Rice instrumentals take note.

Everything about this wonderful recording works beautifully! The writing is fun and adventurous without being pretentious or contrived, the musicianship is awe-inspiring ... every single note is played with gravity, intention and purpose and the whole thing is a joy-filled experience for both the ears and soul. In the time since Joe released "Borderland" I'd convinced myself that I couldn't possibly love his music more. Along comes "If Not Now, Who?", and I stand corrected.

This is just absolutely beautifully arranged instrumental ...bluegrass? Which is sooo hard to find. The instrumentation is lush and the attention to detail exacting. Possibly my favorite find this year. So hard to pick a favorite track.
